Description
Kimber R7 Mako
The Kimber R7 Mako is a compact 9mm pistol that combines Kimber’s attention to fit, finish, and ergonomics with a modern, optics-ready design. Developed as a concealed-carry-sized handgun, the R7 Mako provides a compact footprint while incorporating features designed to make the pistol comfortable to handle and straightforward to operate.
The R7 Mako represents Kimber’s entry into the modern micro-compact 9mm category, combining a slim profile with a capacity-oriented magazine system and an optics-ready slide. Its clean lines and distinctive Kimber styling make it immediately recognizable as part of the R7 family.
Compact 9mm Platform
Chambered in 9mm Luger, the Kimber R7 Mako uses a compact polymer frame and steel slide to create a lightweight, manageable package. Its relatively small dimensions make it noticeably more compact than traditional full-size and many compact 9mm pistols.
The grip incorporates texturing designed to provide a secure purchase while maintaining a comfortable feel in the hand. Kimber also designed the grip geometry around practical ergonomics, giving the R7 Mako a distinctive profile compared with other micro-compact pistols.
Optics-Ready Slide
One of the standout characteristics of the Kimber R7 Mako is its optics-ready configuration. The slide is designed to accept a compatible micro red-dot optic, allowing customers to configure the pistol according to their preferred sighting system.
The optics-ready design gives the R7 Mako a modern configuration while retaining conventional iron sights. Depending on the specific model and package, the firearm may be supplied with an optic already installed or configured for an optic installation.
Kimber Trigger System
The R7 Mako features a striker-fired operating system with a smooth, consistent trigger design. Kimber incorporated a flat-faced trigger profile intended to provide a comfortable interface for the shooter’s finger.
The pistol also incorporates integrated safety features designed to help prevent an unintended discharge when the firearm is properly handled. As with any firearm, users should become thoroughly familiar with the controls and operating instructions before use.
Ergonomic Design
Kimber paid particular attention to the R7 Mako’s grip design. The textured grip surface and carefully shaped frame provide a secure hold while keeping the pistol’s overall dimensions compact.
The slide features serrations that provide additional purchase when manipulating the action. The overall design maintains a clean appearance while incorporating practical features expected from a modern compact 9mm pistol.
