Combining a polymer frame with a striker-fired operating system, the XD-9 offers a straightforward and recognizable configuration that has earned a strong following among owners of Springfield Armory pistols.
This particular XD-9 is being offered in like-new condition and includes its original owner’s manual. The original factory box is not included.
Like-New Condition
This Springfield Armory XD-9 is in like-new condition and presents exceptionally well.
The firearm has the clean overall appearance expected from a lightly handled example. Buyers are encouraged to review all photographs carefully for the exact finish, markings, sights, controls, and overall condition of the individual firearm being offered.
9mm Luger Chambering
The XD-9 is chambered in 9x19mm (9mm Luger), one of the most widely used centerfire pistol cartridges.
The 9mm chambering combined with the XD’s full-size design makes this model a recognizable member of Springfield Armory’s XD family.
Springfield XD Safety System
One of the defining characteristics of the XD platform is its integrated safety system.
Springfield’s official XD documentation identifies several features incorporated into the platform, including a grip safety, loaded-chamber indicator, striker-status indicator, striker block, and USA trigger system.
The grip safety is incorporated into the rear of the frame and is designed to be depressed when the pistol is properly held.
The XD also features a loaded-chamber indicator positioned on top of the slide, allowing the condition of the chamber to be visually checked. Springfield’s documentation also identifies a striker-status indicator at the rear of the slide.
These features are part of what gives the XD its distinctive operating characteristics.
Ergonomic Polymer Frame
The XD-9 utilizes a durable polymer frame designed around an ergonomic grip profile.
The frame incorporates an accessory rail for compatible lights or other accessories where permitted and appropriate. Springfield’s XD documentation also identifies an ambidextrous magazine release and textured grip surfaces as part of the XD design.
The result is a practical full-size-style pistol configuration with controls designed for straightforward operation.
Striker-Fired Configuration
The XD-9 uses a striker-fired operating system and Springfield’s USA trigger system.
The striker-status indicator at the rear of the slide provides a visual indication of the striker’s condition. The loaded-chamber indicator provides a separate indication regarding the chamber.
Together, these features give the XD-9 a distinctive combination of visual and mechanical indicators.
A Recognizable Springfield Armory Pistol
The Springfield Armory XD series has become one of the company’s best-known polymer-frame pistol families.
The XD-9 combines Springfield’s distinctive grip-safety design with a striker-fired action, polymer frame, accessory rail, and 9mm chambering.
