This classic sporting shotgun was manufactured in Belgium during the late 19th century and bears proof marks from the historic Liège Proof House located in Liège, one of the world’s most important gunmaking centers of the era.
Belgian hammer doubles like this were widely exported to the United States and sold through hardware stores and sporting goods dealers under trade names such as Enterprise MFG. They represent a classic example of the working hunter’s shotgun from the black-powder era.
